Interesting Places

Sri Lanka offers a variety of locations to visit. The diverse geography with nature-made monuments has the unique flair of newness and modesty.  History of Sri Lanka dates back to more than 3000 years when man tamed rocks (that’s why Sigiriya is one of the most interesting places to visit on the island). The places of interest are equally distributed to all of the island. With undeveloped beaches, right preserved jungles and wildlife, scenic mountains and waterfalls and tea gardens, Sri Lanka hosts one of the best tourist places in the world. Very often, man has tempered the beauty of nature in efforts to make it more beautiful but that is not the case with Sri Lanka. Untampered beautiful tourist places are dispersed in the country. If The West Shore has jungles and gardens, central and Eastern parts have breathtaking mountains, waterfalls, and unspoiled beaches. A combination of nature, history and culture give Sri Lanka one of the best tourist places in the world.

Country’s mountains are concentrated in Central and Southern Sri Lanka. Like the Rocky Mountains, these mountains are small densely forested.  Most jungles in the country have a significant population of tropical rainforest animals. Sinharaja Rain Forest is a forest national park for the conservation of animals. Sri Lankan Elephant is one of the animals in danger of extinction. Many endangered animals of the world live in these jungles. Sri Lankan government operates more than 34 protection areas to protect rare animals and to stop them from becoming extinct animals. Sri Lankan lakes are also a resort of exotic animals like Siberian birds in the winter season.
